Social Media Manager

LOCATION: Southeast Portland, OR

STATUS: 15 Hours / Week

EDUCATION: Must have completed a Bachelor’s program at an accredited college or university. Preferred programs include: Communications, Marketing, Psychology & Entertainment

COMPENSATION: Commensurate to experience

START DATE: As soon as possible.

DESCRIPTION:

This position is ideal for someone who thrives in managing multiple projects and has direct experience in the world of digital marketing, social media, and communications. We are looking for someone to sustain and grow our events, our online community, and to help assist in PR-related tasks. The ideal candidate has previous social media experience handling multiple accounts. This is a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about new media and all things #. The candidate will be hired as an independent contractor, and work on a part-time basis consistently for up to 15 hours a week.

You would work with us each day from 11am-2pm on Monday-Friday in SE Portland.

Please do not apply if you’re not able to come-in to work with us in person for the first 3 months at least. Possibility of flexible remote hours can be discussed upon completion of 3 months at the job.

DUTIES + RESPONSIBILITIES:

Social Media:

– Day-to-day social media content creation

– Source photos quotes, videos and relevant content from the web

– Strategize and manage social media activity using tools like Buffer

– Writing and sending event newsletters to multiple cities

– Monitor interactions within our social media community and engage with followers

Associated PR-related tasks:

– Occasionally create press releases & distribute to online media channels including bloggers & print news

– Assisting with the creation and editing of promotional videos

– Overseeing event poster graphic design

– Assist with brand strategy that builds meaningful connections and encourages follower engagement

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:

– Must be extremely detail-oriented

– Strong teamwork & interpersonal skills

– Strong creative writing and communication skills

– Ability to manage multiple tasks in a timely manner and meet deadlines under pressure

– Demonstrates familiarity in having a social media following or managing multiple social media accounts

– In-depth knowledge of Facebook, Instagram and other social media platforms

– Direct experience with MailChimp, and WordPress or similar platforms

– Strong understanding of the relationship between branding, social media and promotions

– Must be reliable, motivated & a self-starter, with the ability to work independently

– Experience with events and/or the music industry is preferred

– Must have a fast laptop to perform work-related tasks

– Flexible in work hours. While duties will never exceed over 15 hours a week, we may occasionally need you to help with social media for a live event occurring on either a Friday or Saturday evening.

Work Schedule:
