Grant Writer – P/T or F/T
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of his/her supervisor, the Grant Writer will be responsible for researching, developing and writing inquiries, letters, and proposals requesting funds to support Asian Pacific Health Care Venture, Inc. (APHCV) programs and services. The Grant Writer will also be responsible for tracking and monitoring proposals, their deadlines and requirements. This position includes maintaining accurate computer and hard copy records of documents, phone calls, and visits of funders and prospects.The Grant Writer creates, shares, and writes content for APHCV social media channels.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Research, develop and write inquiries, letters, proposals and other fundraising documents.
- Research and identify potential donors by reviewing APHCV files, following-up on leads, reading health care and health care policy periodicals, and analyzing funding reference tools such as annual reports, foundation directories, and IRS 990’s.
- Develop proposal and other request concepts in conjunction with his/her supervisor, Chief Executive Officer, Director of Clinic Operations, Director of Facilities, Department Managers and Unit Supervisors.
- Track and monitor proposals, their deadlines, and requirements.
- Maintain tracking system for grant, renewal, and report deadlines.
- Monitor results of written requests, such as proposal acceptance rate.
- Coordinate the efforts of key staff members to ensure that documents are completed by the specified deadlines.
- Maintain accurate computer and hard copy records.
- Maintain accurate and updated electronic files of donors and prospects including copies of correspondence, proposals, reports, and notes on significant phone conversations or donor visits.
- Work in conjunction with administrative and fiscal staff to ensure that corporate and foundation gifts are logged on Raiser’s Edge.
- Prepare monthly content calendar for timely and concise postings on social media.
- Regularly creates engaging written and visual content to share on social media.
- Share relevant, timely content on social media.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Knowledge of health service program planning is preferred.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, computer, and research skills.
- Ability to write accurate, compelling narrative that uses grammar and spelling correctly.
- Ability to multitask and perform under deadlines and changing schedules.
- Ability to organize and balance project budgets.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.

Fox Chapel Publishing is accepting applications for the position of Magazine Editor for our Woodworking magazines, reporting directly to the Vice President of Content.
Fox Chapel Publishing specializes in non-fiction, illustrated publications for specialty interest markets including Art, Craft, Pet, Home & Garden, Woodworking and Lifestyle. The company is also expanding into new categories including Children’s books, Gift formats, and Products.
The Magazine Editor will responsible for collaborating with publisher; set editorial direction and priorities for woodworking magazines and special issues, including related digital resources and ancillary products; manage magazine editorial process; direct staff and freelance work; coordinate with other departments; and represent the magazines and company to the public.
Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day running of woodworking magazines
- Acquisitions: research topics; coordinate group ideas for publisher approval; set prices, terms, page lengths
- Plan issues, balancing topics and techniques as appropriate for audience & company goals
- Research topics and contributors for special issues; develop in consultation w/publisher
- Assign staff work on each issue, including editing, writing, and art
- Traffic issues and covers through production, including final publisher approval
- Direct photo shoots
- Oversee contributor process: contracts, submissions, payments, comp copies, project return
- Oversee freelance writers and copy editors: hire as needed, contracts, payments, work quality
- Write magazine content: editor’s note, contents page, cover sell lines, book reviews, departments & features as needed
- Edit and/or check staff work on articles and layouts as needed
- Create map/storyboard of editorial and ads in each issue
- Read and approve printer proofs of each issue
- Collaborate with marketing department on issue publicity (press releases for authors; social media posts for web material and notable articles)
- Collaborate with sales department on ad decisions as needed
- Represent magazines & company to community
- Administer Fox Hunt for staff, readers
Manage staff (technical editor, editorial assistant, art director, ad sales)
- Assign duties, adjusting priorities as needed
- Approve hours, vacation

- Mentor and advise as needed
- Hire as needed, including writing job descriptions, screening candidates, and interviewing
Travel

Digital
- Work with marketing to create appropriate content for social media (Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram)
- Answer questions and correspond with community via e-mail, forum, and social media
- Coordinate/write quarterly e-mail newsletters for each magazine and assure appropriate material is published to websites
- Coordinate posting of material related to each published issue
Miscellaneous
- Develop ancillary products (booklets, pattern packs, digital downloads) and traffic through production or hand off to other departments as appropriate
- Send/forward appropriate ideas to book acquisitions as needed
- Coordinate contests
- Other projects / tasks, as needed
