Studio Assistant, Crown Illustrated Art Department

We are looking for an Assistant to support the art department that works on the 4-color illustrated books and gift products for the Crown Illustrated titles. This is a great opportunity for someone who is interested in learning about the inner-workings of a talented and fast-paced art department in a large publishing house.

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative support to the Art Department as needed
• Coordinates internal and external uploading of all covers to internal database
• Identifies, disseminates and polices upcoming visual deadlines to the team
• Maintains and manages database
• Maintains vendor contact information
• Coordinates, schedules and takes meeting minutes for weekly cover meetings
• Creates, processes and files all contracts
• Liaises with and fields requests from other in-house departments and foreign publishers for all book and gift visuals
• Creates and processes invoices
• Creates physical mock-ups of books and gift products for Sales and Marketing use
• Processes receipts for internal spending
• Sends proofs and books to artists and designers
• Create cover mock-ups for designers
• Orders art supplies
• Clears cover rights with stock agencies and freelance designers

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year prior office experience
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines under pressure
• Attention to detail
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Proactive and able to provide timely follow through on projects
• Basic understanding of InDesign and Photoshop is a plus
• Knowledge of FileMaker Pro a plus

Salary for this position is $40,000. Full-time employees are eligible for our comprehensive benefits program.
