Job Description

·         Writes, rewrites and/or edits technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions to a wide range of audiences. Acquires subject knowledge by interviewing product developers,

·         Observing performance of production methods, referring to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals.

·         Oversees preparation of illustrative materials, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts.

·         Conducts quality review of materials.

Education Qualifications

·         3 Years with Bachelors Degree

·         1 Year with Master’s Degree

Permanent position: Leading global infrastructure/facility maintenance and oil and gas service company is seeking a Commercial Bid Writer for their Austin, TX location. Qualified candidates must possess related experience with the bidding process.

Responsibilities for the Writer• Coordinate and maintain team documentation efforts for responses to RFI”s, RFQ”s and RFP”s
• Coordinate all aspects of the bid process including development, outline, prepare review drafts, scheduling review meetings, and tracking completion of team assignments
• Support our various infrastructure projects, not technical IT related work and will assist with bidding and contract negotiations process
• Overall coordination of our marketing, business development and sales initiatives. Internal coordination with our technical and operational teams will be common, and will require excellent organizational skills in order to execute highly-complex assignments

Requirements for the Writer

• Must have Bachelors Degree preferably in Engineering
• Must have minimum of 5+ years in infrastructure or related industry such as construction, electrical, transportation or management consulting; project management, business development / RFP coordination; experience in government contracts; knowledge of transportation infrastructure preferred
• Must have technical skills and knowledge of the RFP and RFQ process; proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; excellent communication (verbal, written, interpersonal), analytical and presentation skills; high levels of commercial and business acumen. PMNP certification preferred. Knowledge in in-design SW is a plus
• Ability to manage multiple, complex proposals at the same time; strong attention to detail, accuracy and consistency; collaborative work style with high motivation and drive to be successful; ability to thrive in a fast-paced, rapid growth environment; skilled in critical thinking, analysis and problem solving
• Roads/infrastructure experience preferred (can be utilities, water, roads, lighting, but not IT)
• Must have bidding experience

Summary:
The Technical Writer is responsible for writing and editing end-user materials used by all COO and users. The candidate collaborates with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to produce high quality, accurate and engaging learning materials in a variety of media. The individual performs technical writing duties to ensure technical and grammatical accuracy of materials.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be experienced using Adobe InDesign CS5.5 or higher publishing software
• Experienced in reviewing and editing material based upon guidelines
