Although I have tried other closed face reels over the years including the newer ABU's, I still prefer the old 506M and larger 507 to any others, yes the DAM and Ryobi were arguably better reels when they were new but they had a tendency to self destruct after not to long where as the ABU just carries on working, I have had one of mine for over 40 years and still works as well as it did when I bought it, I have replaced a couple of pick up pins and springs but that is it apart from a clean and lubricate every so often
